Old blanket new coat

A gift of an excessively loved blanket caused me to think about how I could give it a new life.

shredded blanket ....sad

With some new fabric from Nadi and a need for a warm coat the quilting started..............

Add some bright red corduroy and brass studs and the blanket was launched again

Ta dah!! a warm coat for baby.
I love playing with colours and fabrics. Repurposing fabrics and creating usefull items for people I love gives me great joy.
Watch this space for more blanket projects!
Bye for now, Rhonda

Architecture in the mallee

Here are some photos of a hermit's shack near where we were working in central South Australia.

Apparently the hermit was called Ziggi and he had been a worker on the trans Australia railway. When the work finished he didn't leave and built himself this shack. The other railway workers kept an eye on him and did even organise a real house to be built there for him, but he never wanted to live in it. He got too old a few years ago to stay and has apparently since died. Sadly the shack has now been burnt down last year in an act of vandalism, soon after i took these photos.
Hey -maybe Ziggi was German, and this is the first post of the Australian -German cultural cross-over in our special interest area of architecture!
If you want some more photos, I've got them of course!. Ziggi had a bit of a milo fetish and he certainly never threw anything away.

And speaking of corrugated iron: wait for the upcoming installments of Architecture in Reykjavik. They know how to make corrugated iron look good!
