Apparently the hermit was called Ziggi and he had been a worker on the trans Australia railway. When the work finished he didn't leave and built himself this shack. The other railway workers kept an eye on him and did even organise a real house to be built there for him, but he never wanted to live in it. He got too old a few years ago to stay and has apparently since died. Sadly the shack has now been burnt down last year in an act of vandalism, soon after i took these photos.
Hey -maybe Ziggi was German, and this is the first post of the Australian -German cultural cross-over in our special interest area of architecture!
If you want some more photos, I've got them of course!. Ziggi had a bit of a milo fetish and he certainly never threw anything away.
