Ali in the mallee

Spinifex on a redsand dune, near Barton Siding, South Australia
One of the privileges of my work is getting to travel to some out of the way places. I'm in love with the mallee country that is in western NSW and Victoria and stretches across into South Australia. If you are travelling at 100km/hr in a car it is an extremely boring landscape of scrubby trees.......but if you stop and explore on foot it is an exquisitely intimate landscape of wonderful texture and colour and spaces in-between.
This will no doubt be the first of an infinite series of photos of the mallee country........
